Jan 15, b2021 (newstodate): Marked by the coronavirus pandemic, Finland's Helsinki Airport handled a total of 141,332 tonnes of cargo in 2020 - down 38.4 percent, y-o-y.
The drop was caused by the shortfall of international traffic as borders closed, and international cargo and mail volumes fell to 39,703 tonnes in 2020 against 227,831 tonnes in the previous year.
Domestic cargo and mail handled at Helsinki Airport were less affected, down only 4.2 percent, to a total of 1,629 tonnes.
The airport's single largest customer, Finnair earlier reported volumes in January-December 2020 down by 58.6 percent, y-o-y, to 71,733 tonnes.
