Sep 18, 2020 (newstodate): The emission of shares in Icelandair has drawn the attention of Michele Roosevelt Edwards Ballarin, who is also behind efforts to revive WOW Air.
According to the Icelandic media Visir, Ms Ballarin even flew to Iceland to participate in the share offering process, placing a bid that would make her the largest single shareholder in Icelandair alongside major financial investment companies.
At a press conference in Reykjavik on September 6, 2019, the US company USAerospace Associates LLC owned and headed by Ms Ballarin announced its acquisition of the WOW Air brand to bring back WOW Air in the air.
Initially based on a US AOC, later to be supplemented by an Icelandic AOC, ambitions were to start low-cost flights between Keflavik and Washington already in October 2019, initially with a fleet of two aircraft and planning to grow to six aircraft by summer 2020 - finally landing at some 10-12 aircraft.
Little progress, however, seems to have been achieved so far in bringing plans to reality.
