Sep 29, 2020 (newstodate): With the first rotation on October 19, 2020, a scheduled freighter service will be in the air connecting Helsinki and Stockholm.
Driving the project is the in-night logistics provider DANX that has contracted Cargo Flight Service Finland Ltd to set up the operation.
The result is the launch of late-evening flights on the route Helsinki-Stockholm-Helsinki, securing DANX' offering of stable In-Night deliveries to Finland and Sweden before seven in the morning, with pick-up of deliveries by the end of the working day in both countries.
The four weekly rotations on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays will be operated by the Spanish carrier Flightline using a Fairchild Swearingen Metroliner SA226 aircraft on the route.
-We have seen our volumes of crucial spare parts shipments growing dramatically over the recent years, with 90 percent trucked into Finland, says Pasi Junninen, DANX Finland Mng Dir.
-However, the remaining 10 percent are the most crucial premium shipments that have so far relied on delivery by commercial airlines' late-evening departures from Stockholm and Copenhagen. This traffic has, however, come to a virtual stop during the Covid-19 crisis, creating a dramatic situation for us in fulfilling our obligations to customers.
-With the new freighter service, actually under consideration for many years, we are taking a new approach to guarantee our in-night logistics service in all parts of Finland, says Mr Junninen.
