Sep 08, 2020 (newstodate): Little is heard from a new airline project in Greenland, Arctic Airlines, except for occasional updatings on facebook.
The company was set up in 2016 by Gert Brask who was earlier involved in various largely unsuccessful projects to establish new, price-competitive domestic flight offerings in Greenland and between Greenland, Denmark and North America, last under the brand name of Sky Greenland.
The project is now again presenting itself via Facebook and a new website, claiming to be in preparations for launch of services by 2021/22 and positioned to benefit from the opening of new Transatlantic airports at Nuuk and Ilulissat in addition to the existing Transatlantic airport at Kangerlussuaq.
According to the company, the network will comprise five European airports including Copenhagen Airport, and four North American airports connecting via airports in Greenland.
Arctic Airways purports to become a virtual airline cooperating with a yet-unidentified European airline holding the AOC and operating aircraft on the route network.
