Sep 29, 2020 (newstodate): From today, SAS is back in China on the route between Copenhagen and Shanghai, operated with Airbus A350 aircraft.
The first flight after lockdown since January 31, 2020, will be served with one weekly rotation as permitted by the Chinese regulator.
SAS first opened its route to Shanghai on March 28, 2004, but pulled out from 2007, reviving the service again on March 1, 2012.
The carrier plans to return also to Beijing later in October, pending government approval.
Serving the Nordic markets, Finnair is stronger already in flights between Helsinki and China, operating two weekly rotations to Hong Kong, and one weekly rotation to Nanjing and Shanghai, respectively.
This is however still a long way from Finnair's original flight plans for summer 2020 where Helsinki would see Finnair performing 42 weekly flights to seven destinations in China alone.
