Sep 16, 2020 (newstodate): Airfreight volumes are performing rather well at Latvia's Riga Airport in August 2020, despite the general downturn due to Covid-19.
In August 2020, the airport thus handled 1,383 tonnes of airfreight which was five percent up on last year, largely thanks to new traffic by Atran and Eleron.
However, mail volumes carried on passenger flights now largely suspended dropped significantly by 42 percent, y-o-y, to only 559 tonnes.
Summing up, total cargo volumes at Riga Airport were down 15.1 percent, y-o-y, to 1,941 tonnes, while Jan-Aug volumes are down 22.2 percent to 13,859 tonnes.
