Sep 11, 2020 (newstodate): Pakistan International Airlines has been banned from operating into the EU markets since July 1, 2020.
That was the day EU enforced its ban on the carrier after several safety issues as well as fraudulent pilot licenses were detected - and highlighted by a fatal crash in May 2020 costing the lives of 99 people.
PIA passengers can now, however, find new venues into the EU due to an extended code-share agreement between PIA and Turkish Airlines.
Starting from October 1, 2020, PIA will launch flights to Istanbul Airport from three destinations in Pakistan, offering daily services with Boeing 777 aircraft, and allowing passengers to transfer to Turkish Airlines' flights on its extensive European route network.
