Sep 07, 2020 (newstodate): The Copenhagen-office of Pakistan International Airlines confirms that all flights to Copenhagen and Oslo will remain suspended "at least" until the end of this year.
The suspensions also comprise the airline's flights to other European destinations after the EU ban on the carrier was enforced on July 1, 2020, as several safety issues were detected as well as fraudulent pilot licenses - highlighted by a fatal crash in May 2020 costing the lives of 99 people.
PIA has been operating its route to Scandinavia from Lahore to Copenhagen, continuing to Oslo before returning to Islamabad, in Pakistan.
PIA first launched services to Scandinavian destinations in 1999.
With the enforcement of the ban, flights by PIA to London, Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Birmingham and Manchester were also cancelled.
As the deadline for PIA to protest the ban expired by August 31, 2020, the carrier decided not to appeal, focusing instead on reorganizing the airline and reforming the regulatory framework to meet international air safety standards.
