Sep 04, 2020 (newstodate): The Danish charter and ACMI operator Great Dane Airlines is on the sticks, eagerly awaiting news from Vietnam.
-We are informed that news may break by September 15, 2020, of Vietnam to allow foreign airlines back into the country after the recent, unexpected recurrence of the Covid-19 in July, says Thomas Hugo Moller, Great Dane Airlines managing director.
-Once the Vietnamese government lifts the embargo, we will be ready to re-ignite the operation under the six-month wet-lease contract with Bamboo Airlines for domestic operations on three routes into Con Dao with two Embraer E195 aircraft and 45 cockpit and cabin crew members.
-After the green light will follow a two-week quarantine period for the crew, which means that operations may start up by early October 2020, instead of early August as originally planned and requested.
-Needless to say, this contract is crucial for Great Dane Airlines to bridge the prevailing challenging situation until the charter market picks up again from spring and summer 2021, says Mr Moller.
