Sep 16, 2020 (newstodate): Since the launch of China's much-heralded Belt and Road Initiative in 2013, efforts have included the addition of an Air Silk Road with the BRI countries.
At the Second “Air Silk Road” International Forum Held in Beijing on September 8, 2020, CAAC's Deputy Administrator Cui Xiaofeng presented figures on the results reaped so far.
China has thus to date signed intergovernmental air transport services agreements with 96 BRI countries and regions, maintaining regular international passenger and cargo flights with 45 of them despite the pandemic.
Mr Cui revealed that China has delivered a total of more than 1,700 tonnes of PPE and medical supplies to 47 BRI countries and regions, and is currently operating 1,068 cargo flights per week to and from the BRI countries and regions, 2.6 times the pre-pandemic level.
