Sep 07, 2020 (newstodate): With the last freighter operation on September 5, 2020, the Danish forwarding and logistics company Blue Water has completed its series of four full-charter flights to Billund Airport.
With the first operation out of Shanghai on August 21, 2020, Blue Water has been chartering AN-124 and other large freighters to Denmark's Billund Airport with PPE for distribution to a number of European countries including, besides Denmark, Italy, Spain and Portugal.
-We are now turning to part-charters instead as the current rates in the market do not warrant the sustained risks entailed in full-charter operations, says Ole Haahr Hansen, Blue Water Head of Airfreight.
-With part-charter operations we share the risk with other partners, and benefit from the flexibility allowing us to adjust the actual volumes according to market needs.
-Today's market is seeing both cargo rates and freighter charter rates stagnating, and the market now abounds in cargo capacity with almost any freighter aircraft in the air alongside passenger aircraft on all-cargo operations, says Mr Hansen.
