Sep 08, 2020 (newstodate): Copenhagen Airport will have to wait till spring 2021 to see Air Canada returning passenger services between Toronto and Copenhagen.
Hopes were to see this happening already by the start of the coming winter schedule at end of October 2020, and earlier optimistically planned from June 24, 2020.
But instead, Air Canada now expects to resume passenger flights on the route only from March 2021.
Since June 25, 2010, Air Canada has been online with direct scheduled flights between Toronto and Copenhagen after a decade of seasonal operations.
To the benefit of the cargo market, Air Canada will increase the frequency on the all-cargo passenger aircraft flights as from October 1, 2020, to two weekly rotations to accommodate the increasing demand for westbound cargo movement.
The current Sunday service will remain unchanged, and a new Thursday flight will be introduced using Boeing 787-9 aircraft with the first operation between Toronto and Copenhagen on October 1, 2020.
Landing in Toronto late night, both all-cargo services will provide next-day transfers to flights to North and South America, India and Asia.
Air Canada started its all-cargo services between Toronto and Copenhagen with a limited series of Airbus A330-300 all-cargo flights in a partnership with HWF from April 26, 2020.
The initial agreement comprised a total of six all-cargo flights planned to run till the end of May 2020, but the arrangement was later made permanent with a weekly Boeing 787-9 aircraft on Sundays.
