Aug 17, 2020 (newstodate): The Latvian market will benefit from enhanced competition on international routes out of Riga Airport, so far strongly dominated by airBaltic.
The Hungarian LCC Wizz Air has announced the opening of another batch of seven routes out of Riga Airport, bringing its total routes offer to 15 connecting to 10 countries, and stationing a second Airbus A320 aircraft at the airport.
The new routes connect from Riga Airport to Bergen in Norway from October 15, Birmingham in the UK from October 18, Billund in Denmark from October 165, Hamburg in Germany from October 15, Keflavik in Iceland from October 16, Stockholm Skavsta in Sweden from October 15, and Trondheim in Norway from October 18.
On top of that, Wizz Air is also adding flights on a new route from Tallinn, in Estonia, to Bergen in Norway from October 15.
As the second European LCC to operate at Riga after Ryanair that started its operations in Latvia on October 31, 2004, Wizz Air launched flights at Riga Airport on March 13, 2010.
