Aug 03, 2020 (newstodate): Among seven participants, the Lithuanian construction company Mitnija has won the tender for a new passenger terminal at Vilnius Airport.
The coming new 14,400 sq m two-story terminal will raise the airport's passenger handling capacity from today's 900 to 2,400 passengers per hour as it launches operations from 2022.
The new terminal's ground floor will comprise passenger check-in and public spaces, cafés, airline company offices and other commercial premises, while the second floor will comprise a security check area and departure gates for Schengen passengers.
Construction work on the new facility is to start shortly without compromising the airport's normal operations during the building period.
