Aug 26, 2020 (newstodate): The Ukrainian cargo carrier Eleron is advancing in its plans for building up a growing network in cooperation with larger airlines offering access to new markets.
As one recent step, Eleron has landed a partnership agreement with Lufthansa Cargo allowing the carrier to operate at Frankfurt Airport with air cargo booked on Lufthansa Cargo's network.
Initially, Eleron will operate two weekly AN-26 flights between Kiev and Frankfurt, planning to grow the frequency to five weekly rotations.
Eleron's first partnership was established with airBaltic at Riga Airport, and negotiations are progressing with airlines including KLM and TAP for expansions into new airports in Europe including Amsterdam, Lisbon and Madrid.
Eleron performed its first rotation between Kiev and Riga on January 17, 2020, later adding also flights between Lviv and Riga with AN-26 rotations lifting some 5.5 tonnes.
The routes carry incoming ex-China e-trade shipments by Atran from Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport into Riga for transfer to Ukraine, and lift mail shipments from Ukraine back to Riga for onward transportation on other carriers including airBaltic and Lufthansa.
