Aug 03, 2020 (newstodate): Flight operations at Iceland's Keflavik Airport did increase in July 2020 - but volumes remain far below those in 2019.
After a complete stand-still, flight movements returned at the airport from mid-June 2020, with seven airlines offering services in June, growing to 13 in July - which is still below the same month 2019 when 23 airlines were operating at Keflavik.
Icelandair remains the airport's largest operator in terms of operations that were, however, 85 percent down on July 2019.
Another major operator is Wizz Air that offered a total of 100 flights from Keflavik Airport in July, down "only" 27 percent in July 2020, compared to 2019.
In summer 2017, 27 airlines had Keflavik Airport on their schedule; in 2018 the number grew to 29 - and for summer 2019, early expectations were that at least 28 airlines would call at the airport.
