Aug 13, 2020 (newstodate): The Russian carrier S7 Sibir has seen its cargo volumes soaring in 2020 - and is now to invest further in this segment.
The carrier has signed a lease contract with GECAS for two Boeing 737-800 converted freighters, slated for delivery by November 2020 and January 2021, respectively.
The two freighters will be the first in the fleet of S7 that comprises 105 Boeing, Airbus and Embraer passenger aircraft.
S7 Cargo expects that the new freighters will increase the carrier's total cargo volumes by some 30 percent.
In the H1/2020 statistics on cargo carried by Russian airlines, Sibir S7 already ranks #4 after managing an increase by 70.6 percent to 28,213 tonnes in January-June, 2020.
