Aug 06, 2020 (newstodate): Still down 8.5 percent in cargo volumes in July 2020, Latvia's Riga Airport is seeing a slow, but sustained improvement.
A total of 2,030 tonnes of cargo and mail was carried in July, including 1,405 tonnes of cargo, and 625 tonnes of mail.
By comparison, July fared better than June when the total volumes dipped 27.8 percent, and May when volumes were down 34.9 percent, y-o-y.
While the volumes remain hampered by the sustained lack of cargo on passenger flights stalled since the start of the pandemic, cargo traffic is provided by the Volga-Dnepr Group's subsidiary Atran flying in from Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport, and the Ukrainian carrier Eleron operating between Riga Airport and Kiev and Lviv.
