Aug 10, 2020 (newstodate): Norway has seen the launch of a new perishables air logistics consulting company: Mikkelsen Consulting.
Behind the new company is Tom Erling Mikkelsen, since August 1, 2020, offering consultancy services backed by some 40 years in the industry, starting out with Lufthansa Cargo in 1983 and last serving as Mowi Managing Director, Marine Harvest Terminal since its opening in September 2008.
-Most Norwegian seafood exporters cooperate with freight forwarders for air logistic solutions, while only some larger companies negotiate directly with the airlines, says Mr Mikkelsen.
-Having worked with airlines, forwarders and airports for many years, I have a strong personal network that can provide exporters with new opportunities from direct agreements with airlines for their air logistics needs.
-I am actually already working with a number of clients, so my company is not starting out from scratch but builds on a portfolio of interested parties.
-Even today, the market for Norwegian seafood is strong, and while there has been some turbulence with a shortage of uplift capacity during March/April as the pandemic first struck, capacity is now gradually returning with several of the freighter operators planning for reopening operations at Oslo Airport.
-All depending, of course, on the development of pandemic in the months ahead, says Mr Mikkelsen.
