Aug 18, 2020 (newstodate): Danish pharma giant Novo Nordisk is treading new paths through a contract negotiated directly with an airline.
Novo Nordisk has thus signed an agreement with SAS Cargo to secure capacity to transport medical shipments on vital lanes to the USA, Japan and China.
-It is actually the first time that we negotiate directly with an airline instead of going through a 3PL, says Rune Sylow, Novo Nordisk Corporate VP of Strategic Sourcing.
-Our focus is to get the products to patients. SAS offers a good product, and it has been exciting to test this new approach in cooperation with a partner with whom we share values.
-In times like these it is obviously a challenge to source air cargo capacity which is crucial to our company. But with the agreement with SAS Cargo we have obtained an enhanced degree of safety, quality and flexibility.
-This nonexclusive contract will run till the end of 2022, and by then we will evaluate the experience gained to decide on future direct acquisition of cargo space, says Mr Sylow.
