Aug 31, 2020 (newstodate): Norwegian will face a challenge in its efforts to divest of excess Boeing 787 capacity in today's depressed marked.
The carrier intends to let go of 15-17 out of a fleet of 37 aircraft on its Boeing 787 long-haul fleet, 11 of which are owned and 26 owned by aircraft lessors including AerCap, BOC Aviation, MG Aviation, and DP Aircraft Ireland that now control 40 percent of the shares in the company after the latest conversion of debts into stake.
Norwegian still sees long-haul low-cost flights as an important element in its future business plan - but for now, the focus is on keeping its Boeing 737 fleet in the air on European and short-haul operations.
