Aug 19, 2020 (newstodate): Alone on the route between Riga, Latvia, and Billund, Denmark, for 12 years, the Latvian carrier airBaltic is finally to face competition.
   Starting from October 16, 2020, Wizz Air is launching services on the route with two weekly rotations using Airbus A320 aircraft.
   Wizz Air's Airbus A320 aircraft offers up to 180 seats per flight compared to airBaltic Airbus A220-300 aircraft offering 145 seats, and Wizz Air will be operating with fares significantly lower than its Latvian competitor.
   airBaltic introduced flights on the route from Riga to Billund from May 1, 2008, with two weekly rotations operated with Fokker 50 aircraft.
