Jul 31, 2020 (newstodate): The general industrial downturn shows itself in the statistics on cargo carried by Russian airlines during January-June 2020.
Together, the 35 carriers listed saw volumes slightly down by one percent, y-o-y, to 507,929 tonnes during the period.
Topping the list in volumes was AirBridgeCargo with 230,793 tonnes but down 16.7 percent, y-o-y, followed by Aeroflot that dropped 23.7 percent to 76,386 tonnes as its passenger traffic came close to a full stop due to the coronavirus.
#3 was the cargo charter airline Sky Gates Airlines, newcomer to the Top-5 list, that however is not revealing its actual statistics, while Sibir S7 ranking #4 managed an increase by 70.6 percent to 28,213 tonnes in H1, 2020, and ranking #5 was Aviastar-TU with 20,205 tonnes, up 48.8 percent, y-o-y.
Nearly making it to the Top-5 list was Volga-Dnepr Group's Atran that increased its loads by no less than 95.8 percent to 16,014 tonnes - not least due to its e-commerce traffic transferring shipments from its sister airlines in the Volga-Dnepr Group to a range of European markets including operations at Latvia's Riga Airport.
