Jul 02, 2020 (newstodate): Planning to launch business at Norway's Farsund Lista Airport, Farsund Aircraft Storage is now in talks with the Norwegian CAA.
After having received a formal response from CAA to its request for permission to start accepting aircraft for long-term storage at the airport, Arne Mikalsen, Venturos CEO and owner of the airport, will have a video-meeting with the CAA on Friday, July 3, 2020, to discuss the process.
-There are indeed several issues to be solved, but our hope is that a solution will be found to allow for opening up for aircraft parking, maybe through applying for dispensation for each landing, says Mr Mikalsen.
-Obviously, implementation from the start of a complete air traffic management infrastructure to serving only a few aircraft parking operations would not be cost-efficient.
-On the other hand, if we are allowed to launch business with limitations and special requirements, we envisage a longer-term development aiming at full airport services comprising also cargo flights to serve coming projects including plans for opening a large battery cell factory for electric cars in the region.
-I cannot know how long the dialogue with CAA will take, but a low cost base allows us to wait out for a positive result. Already now we are in talks with several airlines ready to store aircraft at the airport, says Mr Mikalsen.
