Jul 01, 2020 (newstodate): Greenland may consider taking over the future management of its airspace above 19,500 feet.
At least the three coalition parties are now proposing that Greenland should consider taking responsibility for the highly regulated air traffic management, MET and emergency services for air traffic operating above 19,500, which is currently provided by US and Icelandic institutions while costs are levied on the airlines.
By contrast, air traffic below 19,500 feet is managed by the Danish Naviair and the Danish Meteorological Institute with costs carried by the Danish state.
