Jul 02, 2020 (newstodate): Looking back on 2020 so far, a decline by 5.5 percent, y-o-y, in cargo volumes at Billund Airport in June is not so bad..
In June, a total of 5,529 tonnes was handled at the airport, comprising 3,188 tonnes of exports, down 22.3 percent, while imports spiked by 34 percent to 2,341 tonnes, presumably boosted by shipments of PPE.
During the first half of this year, a total of 32,663 tonnes of cargo has been handled at Billund Airport, including 21,976 tonnes of exports, down 9.8 percent, and 10,687 tonnes of imports that fared better - down "only" 4.5 percent, y-o-y.
Seen against the overall drop by 5.5 percent in June, May ended down 8.7 percent; April even saw volumes down by 21 percent after a drop by 16.7 percent in March 2020 as the virus hit.
So the trend in cargo 2020 at Billund Airport seems to be turning for the better..
