Jun 16, 2020 (newstodate): The UK specialist in air transportation of live animals, Intradco Global has recently managed a special operation at Denmark's Billund Airport.
For the past 12 months, the company has been working closely with a client on a request to transport 2,200 pigs from Denmark to China.
Eventually selecting the Boeing 777F as best suited for the operation, Intradco Global has been operating three rotations from Billund Airport with a Boeing 777F aircraft chartered from AirBridgeCargo through Chapman Freeborn to bring the consignment weighing a total of 110 tonnes to the destination in China.
Before leaving Denmark, the pigs were quarantined for 30 days to ensure that they were healthy and fit for travel. All blood tests and health certificates were obtained and completed ahead of the flights.
With a specialized live animals team and VET facilities, Billund Airport is well accustomed to handling of live animals, having over the years handled large consignments of pigs to especially Russia and China.
