Jun 24, 2020 (newstodate): The Danish regional aircraft lessor Nordic Aviation Capital has added a new customer - and a new country - to its portfolio.
The privately-owned Ukrainian carrier Windrose Airlines has thus now taken delivery of its first ATR 72-600 on a leasing contract with NAC.
So far an all-jet aircraft operator, the carrier was commissioned in December 2019 by the State Aviation Administration to launch services on six domestic routes in Ukraine, creating a need for a suitable aircraft type to be added to the fleet.
The carrier thus signed a LoI for lease of eight ATR 72-600 aircraft to be delivered in 2020-2022.
Starting from April, the Ukrainian carrier is launching a domestic scheduled program connecting the six largest cities of Ukraine – Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Lviv, Odesa, and Mykolaiv with ATR72-600 aircraft.
In the fleet are now 11 aircraft including one Airbus A320, five Airbus A321, two Hawker 800XP, and three Embraer ERJ145 that are due for retirement in 2021.
