Jun 05, 2020 (newstodate): With the departure from Shanghai of Maren Maersk this week, the Maersk Bridge operation is being completed.
With the first landing of a Silk Way West An-124-100 freighter carrying 665 sq m of cargo shipments comprising 500,000 surgical masks, 70,000 pieces of protective clothing and 100,000 isolation gowns at Copenhagen Airport on April 8, 2020, the Maersk Bridge has since brought in large volumes of PPE from China to Denmark and other Scandinavian countries.
A total of 26 freighter operations have been performed while the remaining operations have turned to the sea, comprising three Maersk contained vessels with the last and final delivery in Copenhagen in July.
The Maersk Bridge project covered the sourcing and transportation of PPE from China to Denmark, developed as a response to a request from Righospitalet to A.P. Moller Holding for help in sourcing crucial PPE for Danish hospital and medical care workers.
