Jun 12, 2020 (newstodate): The Lithuanian transport company RM Cargo Baltic has been participating actively in the import of PPE from China to the Baltic markets.
RM Cargo Baltic started out in April 2020 by chartering uplift capacity for a series of initially 16 all-cargo operations from Chinese airports to primarily Vilnius Airport, sourcing capacity from various airline partners.
Extending the service into May 2020, the company finally performed 23 cargo charter operations - but this traffic has now ended.
-Today, after the peak of the PPE crisis, customers are again planning longer ahead and provide their information in time. We then serve them instead with blocked-space and other arrangements with regular capacity providers flying into Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Liege and other airports, and transfer shipments by truck to Lithuania, says Aleksas Mineikis, RM Cargo Baltic Head of Sales Department.
-Compared to the market situation prior to the corona crisis, Lithuania's current cargo volumes are indeed low. Lithuania is a small market and highly depending on the economic situation in the markets around us for both imports and exports - and so far most trade partners are suffering.
-So for us, the focus is now on bolstering relations with our traditional core customers to support them in their efforts to bounce back after these challenging times, says Mr Mineikis.
