Jun 09, 2020 (newstodate): After a prolonged period with ever-growing traffic by foreign carriers, Iceland's Keflavik Airport has low expectations for this year's summer traffic.
So far, Keflavik Airport has only six airlines announcing firm plans for flights to Iceland, while 27 airlines were on the monitors of Keflavik Airport in summer 2017; in 2018 the number grew to 29 - and for summer 2019 early expectations were that at least 28 airlines would call at the airport.
The hopes in 2019 were soon dampened, however, as several airlines folded wings through the year, including WOW Air, Primera Air, and Germania that were all staunch and growing customers at the airport.
For summer 2020, schedules for Icelandic flights have been announced by Atlantic Airways with three weekly flights, CSA with two to six weekly flights according to market demands, Icelandair with daily flights to Copenhagen and four weekly flights to Amsterdam, SAS with four weekly rotations from Copenhagen, Transavia with three weekly flights from Amsterdam, and Wizz Air with three flights from Milan.
