Jun 19, 2020 (newstodate): Hungarian LCC Wizz Air is outpacing most competitors by opening several new bases in the troubled year 2020.
On May 29, Wizz Air announced the launch of four new bases from July 1, 2020: in Milan, Italy; Larnaca, Cyprus; Lviv, Ukraine, and Tirana, Albania.
In total, Wizz Air will allocate 11 aircraft to serve over 50 new routes to and from these four destinations.
Hot on the heels of these announcements, Wizz Air has again published news on the opening of another three new bases in George Enescu International Airport, Bacau, Romania; Dortmund Airport, Germany, and Pulkovo Airport, in St Petersburg, Russia.
Wizz Air will base two, three and one Airbus A320 family aircraft at these airports, respectively, and plans to operate 12 new routes from Bacau, 18 new routes from Dortmund, and five new routes from St Petersburg.
