Jun 17, 2020 (newstodate): While Norwegian has now announced plans for a cautious reopening of European flights from the three Scandinavian countries, Finland will see little progress.
Norwegian has played a pivotal role in the sustained growth in passenger volumes at Finland's Helsinki Airport.
In the original pre-coronavirus summer schedule, Norwegian planned for direct non-stop flights from Helsinki to 21 international destinations as well as flights on a domestic route network in Finland.
Norwegian had grown to becoming the second-largest airline operating at Helsinki Airport, aggregating some 15 percent of the total traffic, and trailing only after Finnair accounting for some 65 percent.
With the new routes so far announced, Norwegian will only be offering flights from Oslo and Stockholm to Helsinki with six and three weekly rotations, respectively.
