Jun 10, 2020 (newstodate): Air cargo on Russian airlines saw a drop in joint total volumes by 10 percent in April 2020, to 80,111 tonnes.
Invariably topping the list in volumes was AirBridgeCargo with 43,402 tonnes but still down 8.9 percent, y-o-y, followed by Aeroflot that dropped no less than 60.6 percent as its passenger traffic came to a full stop due to the coronavirus.
Cargo charter airline Aviastar-TU was obviously in a better situation and saw volumes up 24.9 percent to 3,625 tonnes, and Sibir S7 also managed an increase by 9.6 percent to 3,378 tonnes in April 2020.
Another airline to really take off during the period was the cargo carrier Atran that increased its volumes to 3,180 tonnes, up 92.2 percent not least due to its e-commerce traffic transferring shipments from its sister airlines in the Volga-Dnepr Group to a range of European markets, including Latvia's Riga Airport.
