Jun 16, 2020 (newstodate): For Aeroflot Cargo, the Nordic and Baltic markets are of significant importance.
But for Aeroflot, as for any other airline, times are tough..
-As borders were closed, commercial air traffic was suspended and market demands dwindled except for the repatriation flights and, later, the PPE shipments from China, says Denis Khmelevskiy, Aeroflot Cargo Regional Sales Manager.
-Now, even the demand for urgent PPE flights is decreasing as warehouses fill up in many parts of the world, and yields are falling fast, making all-cargo flights less and less sustainable.
-Anyhow, we are still in the market to fulfill markets needs, and in the plans now are two Boeing 777 all-cargo flights from Tallinn, Estonia, with one on June 18 and a second on June 24.
-The aircraft will fly fully loaded into Tallinn, while payloads have been secured with firm commitments for the return flights, still leaving capacity for additional cargo bookings in the market.
-Similarly, we recently performed one Boeing 777 flights into Riga Airport with PPE from China, but as of now no further flights are being planning.
-In short, we are ready to move whenever there is a request in the market, but scheduled services will only return as borders are opening again, hopefully by July, says Mr Khmelevskiy.
