May 28, 2020 (newstodate): Latvia's Riga Airport is determined to seek a role as a major air cargo hub in the region.
Supporting this vision is DHL Express that is planning to move into a new processing and logistics center at the airport, currently under construction and to be commissioned in 2020.
On November 6, 2019, Riga Airport, DHL Latvia and real estate developer Castor Construction signed an agreement on the construction of what is claimed to become Europe's most modern shipment processing and logistics center to be operated by DHL Express under a 10-year lease contract with provision for further extensions.
Under the headline "Aviation cargo development in Riga after recovery", a webinar will today convey comments, remarks and development plans in Riga by Vitaly Andreev, Atran airlines CEO, Andrii Kishynskyi, Eleron airlines CEO, and Artis Deksenieks, DHL Express Sales and marketing director in Latvia.
The webinar will focus on questions like how the air cargo market will change when passenger traffic returns to its former state, and how Riga airport can benefit from the new-normal cargo operations.
