May 14, 2020 (newstodate): Oslo Seafood Center, located off-airport new Oslo city, has temporarily parked its plans for future projects.
-The times are indeed challenging, with loads of seafood currently stalling since the start of May, says Sven Erik W Hansen, Oslo Seafood Center AS CFO.
-In response to this situation, our attention has been changed from longer-term to short-term issues including finding ways to enhance efficiency in daily work procedures and restraining costs.
-Also, we have lost some tenants on parts of our 3,600 sq m terminal dedicated to handling and reloading of trucks carrying seafood, primarily salmon, from the production sites in the north destined for onward transportation to European markets and airports.
-It is indeed challenging times, but they also open up for new thinking and a closer scrutiny of your own core competencies. Which may bring new opportunities to light, says Mr Hansen.
Speaking to newstodate in January 2020, Mr Hansen named new projects underway to introduce also palletizing and containerizing seafood shipments ready for airside delivery at Oslo Airport already by the second quarter of 2020, as well as plans to establish a certified seafood filleting and processing plant.
-These plans will indeed be realized once the current crisis is overcome, and we may consider establishing new facilities closer to Oslo Airport where the seafood filleting and processing plant may also be included, says Mr Hansen.
