May 11, 2020 (newstodate): It may serve as a slight consolation to Iceland that American Airlines has not entirely written off its seasonal flights to the country.
At least, the airline still has plans for summer flights between Philadelphia and Keflavik - if only for summer 2021, that is.
If everything is settled by then, American Airlines will be offering a daily rotation on the route from June 3, 2021, operating with Airbus A321neo aircraft, replacing the Boeing 757-200 earlier used on the route.
In April 2020, American Airlines was forced to change its program for scheduled flights to Iceland in 2020 due to the spread of the coronavirus, earlier planning to operate daily rotations using Boeing 757 aircraft on the route between Philadelphia and Keflavik.
Also United Airlines and Air Canada have announced the cancellation of flights between North America and Iceland for this summer season.
