May 07, 2020 (newstodate): The majority-owner of Cabo Verde Airlines, the Icelandic subsidiary Loftleidir Cabo Verde has performed a restructuring of the top-exec management while the carrier is grounded due to coronavirus.
The new President and CEO of the carrier since January 2020, Erlendur Svavarsson has named Johann Karason Senior VP Corporate and Fleet Affairs; Manon ten Have has been named VP Sales, Marketing and Customer Support, and a Senior VP position has been established for US national Stanley Duvall to take charge of all issue pertaining to the ongoing transformation of the airline.
Except for Mr Duval who comes from years with the US Air Force, the two other new VPs share backgrounds with the CEO in the mother company, Icelandair.
Until the end of 2007, Johann Karason served with Icelandair in various capacities for 12 years, and Ms Manon ten Have has been with Icelandair for 17 years, last serving as Country and Sales Manager Benelux.
In 2017, Loftleidir Icelandic, TACV Cabo Verde Airlines and the Government of Cabo Verde inked a management agreement on the restructuring of the loss-making TACV Cabo Verde Airlines, and in March 2019, Loftleidir Cabo Verde, owned 70 percent by Loftleidir Icelandic ehf, and 30 percent by Icelandic investors, acquired 51 percent of Cabo Verde Airlines.
Plans for Loftleidir Cabo Verde to take over the next tranche of 39 of the 49 percent still held by the Cabo Verde state were however aborted in April 2020 due to the uncertainties around the airline's future in the current troubled situation.
