May 04, 2020 (newstodate): Finnair is now heavily involved in the all-cargo passenger flights business.
This week alone, the carrier is planning for more than 20 such operations from Helsinki to destinations in Asia including Guangzhou, Seoul, Shanghai and Osaka, with Bangkok as a new point, as well as to New York.
Finnair's first all-cargo flight with an Airbus A350-900 passenger aircraft was performed on March 28, 2020, from Helsinki to Seoul and back to Finland, and the carrier is also looking into activating some of its currently eight grounded Airbus A330-300 aircraft for all-cargo operations.
If the A330-300 passenger seats are removed, the aircraft would gain capacity of a further 28 pallets, translating into some 76 sq m or 7.3 tonnes of cargo, bringing the fully loaded all-cargo aircraft to lifting up to 46.5 tonnes of cargo.
