May 18, 2020 (newstodate): The Estonian Air Navigation Services is keen to develop the implementation of the Remote Tower system enabling flexible and cost-efficient provision of air traffic services at the aerodromes with low traffic intensity.
EANS has thus teamed up with the Estonian company Cybernetica, signing an agreement for the continuous development and global offering of the Remote Tower system, currently developed and implemented in Estonia.
The first aerodrome to deploy remote air traffic control service in Estonia is Kuressaare, followed by Parnu, Kardla, and Tartu.
To provide Air Traffic Controllers with information about the movements detected by video cameras, the visual tracking solution will be developed in the future.
The software can detect only essential movements, e.g. aircraft, vehicles, human beings, and distinguish insignificant objects, such as cloud movements.
