May 07, 2020 (newstodate): As expected, Finnair's statistics on cargo in April 2020 is deeply marked by the global Covid-19 crisis.
A total of only 1,937 tonnes of cargo was carried in April, a drop by 86.4 percent, y-o-y, primarily consisting of 1,771 tonnes carried on the airline's 124 all-cargo flights with passenger aircraft during the month.
Normally generating the bulk of the airline's cargo, the Asian traffic was practically at a full-stop, with only 31 tonnes of cargo, while the European traffic with 123 tonnes was also down by 95.7 percent.
In the first four months of this year, the carrier has lifted a total of 32,029 tonnes of cargo, down 38.2 tonnes, y-o-y.
Available scheduled cargo tonne kilometers decreased by 99.2 percent, y-o-y, and revenue scheduled cargo tonne kilometers decreased by 99.5 percent, both due to the coronavirus impact.
