May 13, 2020 (newstodate): Like other airports, Iceland's Keflavik Airport is bleeding in 2020.
While the country has reportedly managed to get the coronavirus under effective control, the country's air connectivity remains in a limbo with most of Icelandair's and international airlines' traffic at, or near, a standstill.
In April 2020 the airport's passenger volumes thus dropped 99.3 percent to only 3,132 passengers, and aircraft movements were down by 89.8 percent, y-o-y, to a mere 706.
Air cargo is strongly affected as well, with a total of 3,028 tonnes in April, down 30.9 percent, y-o-y, while January-April 2020 loads are 15,156 tonnes, a decline by 14.6 percent, y-o-y, to 14,920 tones.
