May 15, 2020 (newstodate): Albania's new carrier Air Albania has now obtained its TCO certification, allowing for operations within the EU airspace without restrictions.
Until now, the airline has relied on a wet-leased Turkish Airlines Boeing 737 aircraft to operate flights to destinations in the EU markets.
Air Albania performed its first flight on April 19, 2019, strongly supported by Turkish Airlines, and bringing Albania back with an own carrier after being without a flag carrier since November 2011 when Albanian Air collapsed.
Managing the carrier as CEO is Sinan Dilek who may still be remembered in the Nordic aviation circles from this two years as Turkish Airlines General Manager Norway till April 2018.
