May 20, 2020 (newstodate): Finnair is planning a phased reopening of flights through the rest of this year, taking a cautious approach to a market slowly recovering after the peak of the pandemic.
From July, Finnair will gradually add frequencies and reopen routes, aiming at reviewing its schedule on a monthly basis.
Finnair thus expects to be operating some 70 percent of its normal flights program by the end of the year, with 30 percent in July, after having only operated some five percent of the normal traffic during April-June, 2020.
From July, the carrier will reignite long-haul operations to Beijing, Hong Kong, and Shanghai, to Nagoya, Osaka, Tokyo Narita and to Singapore, Seoul and Bangkok.
From August, flights to Delhi and to New York will be resumed, and in November flights to Tokyo Haneda will be added.
Finnair also plans to be operating seasonal winter flights to Miami, Krabi and Phuket.
Flights to 26 European destinations will start from July, and another five European destinations will be reopened in August 2020.
All along, Finnair will be operating all-cargo ad hoc flights with Airbus A350 and A330 passenger aircraft as well as on contracts and cooperation with partners in the logistics business.
