Apr 21, 2020 (newstodate): Eyeing a growing niche in aviation for all-cargo flights with passenger aircraft, Uzbekistan Airways is now joining the race.
The company has converted its first of seven otherwise grounded Boeing 767-300ER aircraft in the fleet to all-cargo operations, removing all seats from the passenger cabin as well as all other passenger-related areas to provide for capacity of lifting another 20 tonnes of cargo on upper deck, and bringing the total available cargo volume to 180 cubic meters.
The conversion works and pertinent technical documentation are well underway, and the first commercial all-cargo flight will take place on April 21, 2020.
Already under conversion is a second Boeing 767-300ER aircraft that will enter into service from April 26, 2020.
