Apr 08, 2020 (newstodate): Since March 20, 2020, all Air Greenland's flight operations including the daily direct non-stop flights between Greenland and Denmark have been suspended.
Initially announced to last till April 9, 2020, the suspension of all domestic and international flights has now been extended to last till April 30.
The current emergency schedule will thus continue, comprising a thrice-weekly flight between Nuuk and Copenhagen via a re-fuelling stop at Keflavik, on Iceland, using Bombardier Dash 8 Q200 aircraft equipped with extra fuel tanks.
The Danish logistics company Blue Water handles the logistics at both ends of the service, but the Nuuk-Copenhagen service cannot, however, be booked by private passengers, being fully dedicated to transport of Covid-19 samples, medical staff and other pertinent transports.
To satisfy the needs for general air cargo transportation, Air Greenland has chartered an Airbus A330 aircraft from HiFly for two weekly rotations between Kangerlussuaq and Copenhagen, and open for bookings by all freighter forwarders.
