Apr 24, 2020 (newstodate): The Latvian state has now decided to bolster Riga Airport with a significant increase in the airport company's capital base.
The state is thus to throw in a total amount of EUR 54.42 million by increasing the company's share capital by EUR 49.91 million, and cancelling the dividend payment for the previous year, accruing to another EUR 4.51 million.
The number of passengers served at Riga Airport dropped by 99.9 percent, y-o-y, in the first half of April after the government's decision to suspend all international passenger traffic.
Riga Airport is considered of prime importance to the country's infrastructure and crucial to the country's connectivity provided not least by the country's lead airline, airBaltic that is also stuck on ground during the current coronavirus crisis.
