Apr 28, 2020 (newstodate): So far focusing on VIP passenger charters, the Lithuanian carrier KlasJet is opening a new window to the cargo business.
KlasJet has thus added one Boeing 737-300 converted freighter from the fleet of Iceland's cargo ACMI and charter airline Bluebird Nordic, benefiting from the two companies' membership of the Avia Solutions Group.
The fleet of KlasJet thus now comprises a total of seven Boeing 737-300/-500 aircraft, including the single freighter.
The decision to add cargo operations provides a lifeline to KlasJet that is seeing little demand in its core market for passenger transportation.
KlasJet was set up by Avia Solutions Group in November 2013 and has since grown its fleet of VIP-configured Boeing 737 aircraft mainly acquired from the Latvian carrier airBaltic as they were phased out.
Avia Solutions Group signed an agreement on January 24, 2020, to take over all shares in Bluebird Nordic, which allowed Avia Solutions Group to enter the narrow-body ACMI cargo business.
