Apr 16, 2020 (newstodate): The Chinese carrier Juneyao Air is currently down to only one weekly rotation between Shanghai and Helsinki, but plans for expansion remain on agenda.
The carrier launched flights between Shanghai and Helsinki as its first European destination on June 28, 2019, with daily rotations during the summer schedule and three weekly rotations during the winter schedule.
In November 2019, Juneyao Airlines announced plans to extend the Shanghai-Helsinki route to Manchester, in the UK, starting from March 30, 2020, on three weekly flights, and to Dublin on two weekly flights also from March 30, as well as to Keflavik on the remaining two days from March 29, 2020.
These plans are shelved for now but remain alive, pending better days to return.
-The extension flights via Helsinki to Manchester, Dublin and Keflavik are still being considered, of course, confirms Andrew Mui, Juneyao Air Brand Department PR Consultant in response to a request from newstodate.
-At the moment, we are flying between Shanghai and Helsinki only once a week, but we are also in the cargo market for this route, Mr Mui says.
Juneyao Air operates its route to Helsinki with Boeing 787-9 aircraft offering up to 20 tonnes of cargo capacity on fully-booked passenger flights.
Juneyao Air has selected Aviator Finland as its handling partner at Helsinki Airport, while air cargo handling and cargo terminal services are provided by ASR Cargo Center.
